What is the custom stationery process like?

Custom wedding stationery

Custom wedding invitations are popular because couples want their wedding to be 100% unique. They want everything in their wedding to reflect them and their love story. You may be interested in custom wedding paper yourself but aren’t sure what the process entails. Today’s blog post will go behind the scenes of my exact process so you know what to expect when you work with us.

  1. The first part of the process is a free 30-minute Zoom call. After you reach out, we book a time to chat. This is a very laid-back call where I get to know all about you and your partner, your wedding, and what you have in mind for your invitations and day-of paper. This is also when I gather all the info required for me to create your custom quote.

2. After we chat, we will put together a document for you with 3 packages at different price points. We list out everything that is in each package so you can confidently make a decision.

3. Once you pick the package you want, we will send you an official proposal which you can accept and, within the same document, you can also sign the contract, and pay the 50% non-refundable retainer.

4. We then send you a welcome email with some important info including a spreadsheet where you will enter all of your guest names and addresses (for printing or calligraphing your envelopes), the log-in info for your very own portal, as well as a form where you will enter all the info about your wedding invitations.

5. Once we have enough information about what you envision your wedding invitations to be, we create a rough sketch of what we have in mind for your invitations. This will show you the layout, where we are thinking of putting artwork, as well as how it will all look together. Once you approve that, we move on to the real fun stuff:

6. We start painting and calligraphing everything for your gorgeous invites! We do everything by hand so this may take a week or 2. We then scan it all into the computer. I will create your entire suite on the computer and send you a realistic mock-up to approve. You have total control over this. You can tweak and change anything you want! We design in a way that makes it easy to make changes.

7. Once the mock-up is approved, we move on to the printing phase! We print all envelopes in-house, and the invitations are printed by our trusted print vendors whether we are printing everything digital, letterpress, or foil.

8. When everything arrives at our studio, we begin the assembly phase. We assemble everything ourselves in-house. Whether you chose wax seals, envelope liners, or ribbon, everything is done with the greatest attention to detail by our expert hands.

9. A fun little extra we do for our clients: we create 3 extra suites with all the bells and whistles. Two are for you to give to your photographer so they have pristine and gorgeous suites to photograph, and another one we pack in a linen box for you to keep and look at forever!

10. Once assembling is done, we pack everything up so it will arrive safely in your hands and ready to go out to your guests!

At every step of the process, we communicate clearly with our clients so they know what is happening and what to expect next. That is the fun part of working with a stationer directly on custom invitations, you will get exactly what you’ve been dreaming of!!
